Recommended reason: Appreciate the new holiday classics imagined by the local aerial dance company Caroline Calouche & Co.

Recommended reason: This show takes the audience to the streets of London to experience the classic story of the ruthless Ebenezer Scrooge.

Blumenthal Performing Arts Center | Until December 26; 7:30pm | $25-$114 | Details 

Why you should go: The Belk Theatre is still one of the city's best festival traditions. The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra accompanies the Charlotte Ballet with a selection of music composed by Tchaikovsky, such as the famous "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy".

Recommended reason: Test your trivia knowledge with The Queens of The Vanity House, and enjoy cross-dressing performances between game rounds.

Recommended reason: This rap battle inspired by Van Gogh will allow the audience to interact and choose the winner.

Why go: Sing Mariah Carey’s Christmas tunes and dance with the heroine for a good cause. Ticket income will be donated to Levin Children's Hospital.

Olde Mecklenburg Brewery & Biergarten | December 17-19; time varies from day to day | Free | Details 

Recommended reason: if you have not been there, please go to the fourth and last weekend of OMB German Christmas Village. More than 40 vendors will be set up in the beer garden to enjoy seasonal drinks such as festive music, lights, spiced wine and hot cocoa, and of course delicious German cuisine.

Recommended reason: Guests can buy tickets at the counter and visit the food and beverage stations that serve Pani Puri, Kebabs, Butter Chicken, Saag Paneer, Hot Chai, Mango Lassi and other delicacies. There will also be a henna tattoo artist who will provide traditional henna tattoos on site.
