■Allenstown Historical Society will be holding its Annual Bake Sale on July 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Old Allenstown Meeting House, 150 Deerfield Road.

■The Allenstown Town Hall will be closed on July 4 for Independence Day.

■The Allenstown Historical Society will meet on July 6 at 6 p.m. at the Suncook Business Park off Route 28 onto Lavoie Drive. Open to the public for more information call (603) 485-4437.

■St. John the Baptist will be holding its Monthly Market on July 9 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and on July 10 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Parish Hall.

■The Suncook Senior Center Activities: Bone Builders (9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesdays), Bingo (10:15 to 12:15 p.m. on Thursdays), Cribbage Club (10 to noon on Tuesdays), Tops Group (11 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays), Arts and Crafts (10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesdays), Klunk (12:30 to 2 p.m. on Thursdays).

■Join the Historical Society members and friends for food and conversation at Thunder Bridge for their annual picnic on July 11 at 6:30 p.m. This historic site is located on Depot Road off Route 28. Bring your own sandwich, beverages and dessert will be provided. In case of inclement weather, the picnic will be held at the museum at 49 Main Street.

■Mr. C, Chichester School athletic director, has provided students with an open gym for basketball on Wednesdays with Grades 3 to 5 from 5 to 6:30 to 8 p.m. Contact acipriano@SAU53.org.

■The library summer reading program has started with “Oceans of Possibilities” as the library’s themed reading event. It’s still not too late to get involved by visiting the library or calling 798-5613.

■The planning board will meet on July 7 at 6:30 p.m.

■The Chichester Youth Association will meet on July 10 at 6 p.m. at Carpenter Park. Volunteers, coaches, board members, and field maintenance help is needed for fall activities. Fall sign-ups for soccer for Kindergarten through Grade 6 are being accepted.

■The elementary school office will be having variable open hours during the summer. Call (603) 798-5651 before coming.

■Mark your calendar for the Chichester Police Association farewell retirement celebration for Donna and Chief Clarke. The event will take place at Grange Hall on July 24 from 1 to 4 p.m. Chief Clark retires as chief at the end of July. Lt. Wright will take on police chief responsibilities.

■The Board of Selectmen will meet on July 5 for a regularly scheduled meeting at 6 p.m. at the town hall.

■Cy Tapley, Chichester Head Custodian, gave his notice leave of employment after working for 17 years with our school. Students and teachers recognized his dedication and the difference he made to the school with his kindness.

■BCEP will be closed on July 4 and 5.

■The Chichester Grange 132 paid respects to Arlene Weeks for being a member of the grange for over 50 years. Arlene passed away recently and her years of belonging to the grange did not go unnoticed, and she was gifted friendship by many grange members.

■Nominations are now being accepted for the 2022 Epsom Citizen of the Year. Many people deserve to be recognized for their commitment to Epsom. Only one can be selected. Please submit your nomination with a short note explaining why you think this person should be honored as Citizen of the Year. ■Pittsfield Old Home Day is July 23. The theme for the day is “Ocean Waves and Beach Days.” Friday – free outdoor movie at 8:30 p.m. (location TBD). On Saturday from 7 to 9 a.m. – PES Runs for Autism at Drake Field, 10 a.m. parade (the route will be shortened), 11:30 a.m. – cookout, lawn games, carnival games, face painting, photo “booth,” hot air balloon, sandcastle building, beach towle origami, JujuBee the Clown, duck race, and community mural at the F.B. Argue Recreation Area, 2 p.m. – Pittsfield Historical Society Dedication on new headquarters and Open House! 7:45 p.m. – Pittsfield Citizen of the Year Presentation at Drake Field, 8 p.m. – Nevers Band Concert and end the day with fireworks! ■The Drake Field Summer Recreation Program will run from June 28 through Aug. 4 under the direction of Louise Sawyer. The anticipated activities will include sports, arts and crafts, children’s games, and field trips. Children must enroll and only those children will participate. Field trips will be limited to 45 children. Some field trips will cost money and official field trip permission slips will be required. Activities will be cancelled on rainy days. Children will be dismissed to walk home unless being picked up by a parent. All activities will be outside. Plan to come down and enjoy the fun. ■The F.B. Argue Recreation Area is open. The Parks & Recreation Commission runs the facility. Family passes will again be available for $50, or you can pay the $1-a-day admission. Daily admission for non-residents will be $1.50 per person. Children under 5 will be admitted free with a paid adult. The Beach Area will be open for swimming Mondays through Fridays from noon to 5 p.m.

■Non-Red Cross swimming lessons will be offered this summer at the F.B. Argue Recreation Area. Swim lesson sign-up sheet can be obtained and registration will be held at the recreation area. The next session is - Nighttime: July 11 to 22. The cost for swimming lessons for Pittsfield residents is $15 per child per session, non-residents $30 per child per session. ■There are lots of exciting activities planned at Pittsfield Youth Workshop! We have trips scheduled for most Tuesday and Thursday’s throughout July and August, so check out our calendar. Our summer drop-in hours will be the following: Monday, Wednesday through Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. Starting in July through August, every Tuesday and Thursday will be our scheduled trip days. ■The Pittsfield Senior Center is happy to be open once again. As the summer continues programs will be added. Hours of operation are: Monday, Wednesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon. Office hours only, no events are occurring at the center unless stated otherwise. Senior Community Lunch (Mondays and Thursdays at 11:30 p.m.), Bingo (Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 11 a.m.), Cribbage & Board Games (Wednesdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m.), Silver Walkers (Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m.), Exercise Walking at Center (Mondays and Thursdays from 8 to 10 a.m., Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.).

■The Josiah Carpenter Library is collecting plastic bottle caps for a very cool project. Please save them and drop them off at the Library!

■The Mead and Read Book Club is underway. The group decided on Dan Brown’s “Da Vinci Code” and will meet again at Over the Moon Farmstead in Pittsfield on July 11 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss it. If you’re interested, please contact the library to reserve your copy of the book at(603) 435-8406!

■The Suncook Valley Rotary Club is in need of volunteers to help at the Balloon Rally. Please contact Fallon Reed at suncookvalleyrotary@gmail.com.

■On July 6 at the First Congregational Church of Pittsfield, the Infant Toddler Diaper Pantry will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. Each family is eligible to come for the supplemental diapers once per opening (twice a month). Each family receives one set of diapers/product per child in need, and one package of wipes per family. We generally have newborn through size six diapers, along with pull-ups and overnights. We use the parking lot off Chestnut Street. We will also be accepting donations of diapers and wipes, including open packages. Please call 435-7471 if you have any questions. Together we are making a difference.

■Panther Park Disc Golf Course is open. The course is made up of nine holes spread around the campus of the Pittsfield Elementary and Middle High Schools and is available for free use by the public, with the exception of during school hours. Disc golf is an up-and-coming lifetime sport that has grown tremendously popular during the pandemic that combines the enjoyment of hiking through nature while throwing frisbee-like discs into targets.

■Notice is hereby given of a school board member vacancy on the Pittsfield School Board. Those who wish to be considered for appointment by the Selectboard should submit an application for volunteer appointment along with a letter of interest before July 8, to Cara Marston, Town Administrator, 85 Main Street, Pittsfield, New Hampshire 03263 or by email to cmarston@pittsfieldnh.gov. ■The story, “Bruce’s Big Storm,” by Ryan Higgins has recently been posted as the Josiah Carpenter Library’s first StoryWalk for the summer.

■Pittsfield’s Hot Air Balloon Rally is back and that means that the Victory Workers 4H Club’s Cow Chip Bingo is back, too! Tickets are available now! ■On July 4, the BCEP transfer station (also closed July 5), Library and Town Hall will be closed in observance of Independence Day.
